After Chicago in the cold. After Austin in the rain. After the long silence of the Texas highway, the Marfa desert, the boneyard, the canyon, the propeller planes and the cracked asphalt and the tumbleweeds and the ten thousand miles of American sky — it ends here, on a hill above Los Angeles, two people standing shoulder to shoulder looking at the city they drove toward the whole time.

Nobody is taking a photo. Nobody is moving. They are just looking.

That's what the end of a great road trip feels like — not a finish line, not a celebration, just a quiet moment on a hill where you stand still for the first time in days and let the destination arrive around you.

The city waited. They got here.
